Atlanta-based firm Windham Brannon announced that Brandi Samuel, co-leader of the firm's international tax practice, was named principal, effective Oct. 1, making her the first Black professional to hold the title.
Samuel and her team currently focus on issues ranging from international taxation to M&A tax implications and nonprofit tax compliance, with clients in more than 75 countries. Samuel first joined Windham Brannon as a senior tax associate in 2014.

“Brandi has been serving clients around the globe with superior international expertise,” said Windham Brannon CEO and managing partner Heidi LaMarca in a statement. “We’re incredibly fortunate to have her knowledge and specialized skill set. Her leadership has contributed significantly to the firm’s success, and we’re excited to formally recognize her contributions and look forward to her continued success and contributions.”
Samuel has headed a number of initiatives around diversity, equity and inclusion at Windham Brannon, overseeing annual training for new managers as well as policies, practices and business objectives to foster a better working environment, according to the firm.
Samuel previously served on the Georgia Society of CPAs Task Force and currently holds memberships in the AICPA, the Georgia Society of CPAs, the National Association of Black Accountants and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
