Sikich, a Top 30 Firm based in Chicago, is acquiring Cotton & Co., an accounting firm in Alexandria, Virginia, expanding its local, state and federal government client base, effective March 31.
This move will also expand Sikich’s presence in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area. Sikich first entered the D.C. market with the 2019 acquisition of
Cotton dates back to 1981 and offers financial and information assurance, financial and information systems consulting, contracts and grants, and litigation support. Its clients include cabinet-level civilian and defense agencies, and independent federal and legislative branch agencies, as well as state government and commercial entities.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Sikich ranked No. 30 on Accounting Today’s 2021 list of the Top 100 Firms. Its revenue in 2021 was $228.57 million.
The Cotton acquisition will bring an additional 15 partners and approximately 200 total employees to Sikich. Sikich has 98 partners and nearly 1,200 total employees.
