QuickBooks wants developers to go global

Developers for Intuit QuickBooks will now be able to market their solutions in over 200 countries, as the company just released its new "Rest-of-World" app store.

By opening up the app store globally for developers to build within, the company is seeking to encourage people to create niche solutions that expand the reach and power of its platform, while at the same time expanding market access for developers.

The app store was created for all skill levels. It contains resources to help understand what APIs are available to develop with, as well as a sandbox to work from for testing. Developers will also have access to production keys to ensure that the apps developed can easily integrate with the QuickBooks platform.

Developers are encouraged to explore the QuickBooks platform and identify areas where gaps may exist, and get creative on how to fill them, including for specific vertical industries. All apps created and submitted to the platform will undergo technical, marketing, and security reviews prior to going live.

Once an app is ready, developers can then customize what markets it is available within, hence the "Rest-of-World" title. If it was built with a specific country in mind, the developer can limit its availability to a certain region. If the app can be used broadly, it can be marked available globally.
