Actor Danny Trejo, 78, has reportedly declared bankruptcy as part of an attempt to resolve a $2 million tax debt.

The prolific actor, who also runs businesses such as Trejo Tacos and Trejo's Coffee and Donuts in Las Vegas, has filed for Chapter 11, according to published reports.

The "reorganization bankruptcy" is said to be the result of Trejo's "mistakenly" claiming deductions for years; he reportedly joked to a news outlet that he now knows that dog grooming is not a "legit expense."

He reportedly hopes to be free of tax debt by next year.

Trejo, who had a crime- and drug-ridden childhood and who served prison time as a young adult before turning his life around, is reportedly worth some $16 million. His enterprises are said to be owned by corporations he created to run them.

Last year, he appeared in a light-hearted episode of the FloQast Studios sitcom series "PBC" on YouTube entitled "Trejo's Taxes," in which he moonlights as a tax preparer intimidating clients into accepting the wrong deductions.

His long list of other credits includes the movies "Desperado," "Con Air," "Reindeer Games" and the Spy Kids franchise. His TV credits include "Baywatch," "The X-Files" and "American Horror Story." For many years, Trejo has also done commercials, podcasts and voice work in animation and video games.
