Mauldin & Jenkins, a Top 100 Firm based in Atlanta, is expanding in Alabama by adding CDPA PC, a firm with offices in Athens, Florence and Huntsville, effective July 1.
The merger will increase M&J’s presence in the Southeast to 12 offices. CDPA has provided tax, financial planning and reporting, and consulting services to individuals, fiduciaries, commercial businesses and other organizations since 1954. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Mauldin & Jenkins ranked 83rd on Accounting Today’s 2021 list of the Top 100 Firms. Mauldin & Jenkins earned $66 million in annual revenue, while CDPA earned $6.5 million, for a combined $72.5 million in combined net fees. Six partners and 35 staff from CDPA will be joining M&J, bringing the total number of partners to 57 and employees to 369 at M&J.
The deal is the latest sign of a return of M&A activity in the accounting profession this year after a relatively quiet 2020.
"We are excited to begin our journey in partnership with the Mauldin & Jenkins team,” said CDPA managing partner David Christopher in a statement Wednesday. “Their professional expertise, commitment to exceptional client service, as well as our common culture make them a perfect fit for CDPA. We look forward to continuing to serve clients in North Alabama for many years to come, and our partnership with Mauldin & Jenkins will enhance our ability to do so."
M&J sees opportunities in the expansion. “CDPA has a long and rich history of serving the needs of its clients and its community with a group of professionals dedicated to excellence,” said Mauldin & Jenkins managing partner Hanson Borders in a statement. “Their years of experience, specialized knowledge and commitment to quality make Mauldin & Jenkins and CDPA a perfect fit because of our shared core values and history of quality service.”
