Big Four firm KPMG has announced that its long-awaited learning and developmental center, now dubbed "KPMG Lakehouse," is set to open in January 2020.
In its first year, the Orlando, Florida center is set to host 32,000 KPMG staff members on its 55-acre campus with "more than one million hours of in-person professional development," according to the firm. The $450 million facility is located in the Lake Nona neighborhood of Orlando, five miles from the Orlando International Airport.
"KPMG Lakehouse will be a place to foster relationships among colleagues, reinforce our strong culture and heritage, and enhance our ability to deliver innovative, high-quality service to our clients," stated Lynne Doughtie, chairman and CEO of KPMG U.S. "The Lakehouse is a key component of our evolving learning and development strategy.”
The Lakehouse will offer both in-person and digital courses, with up to 800 KPMG partners and professionals teaching each week at the center. Special mobile applications will also be available, providing students with class registration, schedules, dining and exercise options, as well as the ability to connect with other professionals on campus.
"Figuratively and literally, we are putting the learner at the center," said KPMG U.S. chief learning officer Corey Munoz in a statement. "We’re designing learning experiences to fully engage our professionals, and creating an environment that will support their active exploration of new ideas.”
The Lakehouse campus will feature 800 single-occupancy guest rooms, 90 learning and innovation spaces, a 1,000-seat assembly hall, and an Ignition Center, a meeting place for professionals to "explore potential disruptors, new business models and breakthrough solutions," according to the firm. The campus also boasts multiple dining areas, a social venue and fitness amenities.
Fellow Big Four firm Deloitte opened its similarly themed Deloitte University learning complex in Westlake, Texas, back in 2011.
