KatzAbosch, a Regional Leader firm based in Timonium, Maryland, has brought in Maureen McCarthy and her health care consulting firm, Medical Business Advisors, as part of the KatzAbosch Medical Practice Service Group.
The addition of Medical Business Advisors, which is based in Rockville, Maryland, will enable KatzAbosch to provide more health care consulting services to its medical practice clients. McCarthy has specialized for more than 25 years in health care consulting and practice management. A seasoned health care consultant and CPA, she deals with physician practice management issues such as managed care contract analysis and negotiation, practice revenues consulting, revenue cycle management, assessing and streamlining procedures, medical record chart auditing and training, and practice and billing department reviews. She and her firm have worked with KatzAbosch on previous engagements.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. KatzAbosch ranked 17th on Accounting Today’s 2019 Regional Leaders list for the Top Firms in the Capital Region, with $17.3 million in annual revenue.
“We are delighted to have such a qualified and experienced health care consulting professional joining our firm,” said KatzAbosch President and CEO Mark Cissell in a statement. “Maureen McCarthy is an industry specialist, who brings a unique, human-centered leadership approach to our medical practice service group which will further unlock the potential of our clients’ people and business.”
McCarthy is the only practitioner joining KatzAbosch as a result of the deal and will be leading MBA as a division within the firm. KatzAbosch currently has 93 employees. The firm has various locations and McCarthy will be working out of KatzAbosch’s Columbia, Maryland, office and traveling to the firm’s other locations.
“I’m excited to work with Maureen to create an even more dynamic and vibrant medical practice service group that serves to grow and protect our client’s practice management goals,” stated KatzAbosch Director Mark Rapson, who is co-chair of the medical practice service group.
