The 2025 enrollment renewal application period for Enrolled Agents is now open through Jan. 31. EAs must renew their status during this time if their Social Security number ends in 0, 1, 2 or 3.

To renew, EAs must have an active PTIN and each year must complete at least 16 hours of continuing education that must include two hours of ethics; renewal applicants must complete a total of 72 hours of CE during the three-year enrollment cycle. EAs renewing for the first time must complete two hours of CE for each month of enrollment, including two hours of ethics each year. Applicants must complete the CE table in Part 1 of Form 8554; all credits will be verified at the point of renewal. If CE hours can't be verified, the application will be delayed.
