Five Indiana accounting students representing four local universities were awarded the Indiana CPA Society's 2021-22 Indiana CPA Educational Foundation Scholarship, receiving $8,500 in total.
The scholarship provides financial assistance to Indiana CPA Society student members pursuing an accounting major and ultimately CPA licensure.
"We're so proud of all the students who applied," said INCPAS president and CEO Jennifer Briggs in a statement. "It was amazing to see how many of these students are pursuing a CPA license because they recognize the value it can bring to community service and entrepreneurship."
Scholarships are $1,000–$2,000 per year and renewable for up to $5,000 total per student. The Educational Foundation is supported by Indiana CPA Society members.
Scholarship recipients include:
- Alexis Bergman, sophomore — Grace College;
- Alejandra Ruesga Garcia, sophomore — Marian University;
- Madison Mesplay, senior — Valparaiso University;
- Brian Richie, junior — Indiana University; and,
- Kenneth Villacorta, graduate student — Indiana University.
