Illinois CPA Society announces 2019 scholarships

The Illinois CPA Society is now accepting scholarship applications for the 2019-2020 academic year.

More than 30 tuition and textbook scholarships, worth up to $4,000 each, will be awarded to collegiate accounting students. The Illinois CPA Society Accounting Scholarship Program is funded by donations to the CPA Endowment Fund of Illinois.

Scholarship applicants must be accounting students currently enrolled in an Illinois college as a senior or a graduate student for the 2019 academic year. Eligible juniors may apply for the Herman J. Neal Scholarship. The scholarships award students who demonstrate financial need and academic achievement, and plan on taking the CPA exam.

“The impact of this award is incredible, far greater than the dollar amount,” stated Sam Carani, a previous ICPAS accounting scholarship recipient. “With the financial support comes the belief and encouragement that I can achieve my goal of becoming a CPA. The application included a few questions about my academics and financial aid, short essays and two letters of recommendation. It was absolutely worth my time to apply.”

The ICPAS 2019-2020 scholarships include:

  • ICPAS Accounting Tuition and Textbook Scholarships, for seniors or graduate students
  • ICPAS Herman J. Neal Accounting Scholarships, for African-American juniors, seniors or graduate students
  • ICPAS Jovencio P. and Violeta R. Mangahas Accounting Scholarships, for seniors or graduate students
  • ICPAS Women’s Executive Committee Advancing Women in Accounting Scholarships, for female seniors or graduate students
