Hungerford Nichols CPAs + Advisors, a firm based in Grand Rapids, Michigan, is adding Ferris, Busscher & Zwiers PC, a firm in Holland, Michigan, effective May 1.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but the combined firm is expected to have annual revenue of $22 million. Hungerford Nichols has 130 staff members, including 11 shareholders, while FBZ has 22 employees, including three partners.
FBZ partners Bill Borgman, Doug Rotman, Tony Zwiers and their staff are joining Hungerford Nichols but will continue to operate from their Holland office. Borgman will become a principal at Hungerford Nichols, while Rotman and Zwiers will become shareholders.
“We are excited to have Bill, Doug, Tony and their team join us,” said Hungerford Nichols managing shareholder Tom Prince in a statement Wednesday. “They are a great fit with our culture, demonstrating a high level of commitment to their employees, clients, and the community. We all strongly agree that the merger strengthens our ability to serve our clients in Holland as well as attract new ones along the lakeshore and throughout West Michigan.”
Hungerford Nichols is one of the biggest locally owned and independent CPA and advisory firms in West Michigan and has been serving clients since 1941. Besides the Grand Rapids headquarters and its new Holland location, the firm also has offices in Greenville, Muskegon and St. Joseph.
“I cannot thank our clients enough for their loyalty and support of our firm,” Borgman said in a statement. “We have been looking for the best fit firm with a strong reputation and deep expertise to merge with for quite some time that would enable us to have a seamless transition. I am confident that our merger with Hungerford Nichols will provide our clients with the same excellent service, and we are honored to partner with them.”
