The H&R Block Expat Tax Services team has started a client portal billed as a virtual prep one-stop shop for Americans living overseas.

The virtual service guides clients through the federal filing and includes a tax interview based on the client’s situation. Clients register an account and complete the tax organizer; receive a price quote and get assigned to a tax advisor who fits the specific situation; have the return prepared; and pay for and review the return. Expat Tax Services then files the return with the IRS.

“Feedback we’ve received from our clients is that they want to be guided through the filing process,” said Scott Buchbinder, director of H&R Block Expat Tax Services, in a statement

Clients can also sign up to have Expat Tax Services, which is based in the U.S., manage IRS notices issued to them while they’re abroad.

“If you are a U.S. citizen and live outside the U.S., chances are you have to file a U.S. tax return, but it can be difficult to find an expert in U.S. taxes while abroad,” said general manager Jody Vanarsdale in a statement. “Our virtual tax preparation service gives you access to our highly-trained international tax experts – right at your fingertips no matter where you live.”
