Dean Dorton Allen Ford, based in Lexington, Kentucky, announced on Monday that it will sponsor Kentucky Derby racehorse Tax in all three races of the Triple Crown.
The sponsorship came about when Patti Reeves, of Reeves Thoroughbred Racing, reconnected with her friend Donna Logsdon, a Dean Dorton staff member. Reeves learned of Logsdon's career at an accounting firm, and the sponsorship opportunity came from their connection.
Dean Dorton also announced it will be debuting a new logo and branding this summer, with the new logo being featured prominently on jockey Junior Alvarado’s pants, silks and boots while riding Tax.
“Given the excitement due to our recent expansions into new markets and new services and the resulting momentum those expansions have created, we planned to launch a new logo and branding this summer," stated David Bundy, president and CEO of Dean Dorton. "But when Patti approached us with this opportunity, we couldn’t resist bringing all these elements together. The circumstances of a horse named Tax and Patti’s personal relationship with Donna make this such a special moment for us as a firm."
Tax recently won the Withers Stake following a third-place finish in the Remsen Stakes. Tax is trained by Danny Gargan and owned by R. A. Hill Stable, Reeves Thoroughbred Racing, Hugh Lynch and Corms Racing Stable’s.
"This is a great opportunity to promote the Dean Dorton brand and our deeply rooted history of serving equine clients on one of the world’s biggest and most historic stages,” said Bundy.
