Accounting firm Brown Schultz Sheridan & Fritz raised $3,535 to benefit Enola-based charity the United Way of the Capital Region through a miniature golf tournament.
The competition took place on Aug. 24 at BSSF's Camp Hill office, where 20 teams of more than 80 players participated in the event. Organizations offered to make donations to register players or sponsor a hole, while players could purchase a "mulligan" and get a new shot for $5.
"We are thrilled to have raised over $3,500 to support the United Way's vital community programs and services," said Ken Wolfe, president and managing principal at BSSF, in a statement. "Serving our community is a core component of our mission to help people achieve extraordinary outcomes, and the BSSF Mini Golf Tournament is always such a fun way for us to give back! We really enjoy spending time and having fun with our clients, team members and community partners at this event each year."
Featuring 18 mini golf holes set up throughout the office building, the tournament was sponsored by individuals and companies such as Wich Way Sandwiches, which sold sandwiches and paninis to players and donated 10% of its profits to United Way.
The United Way of the Capital Region is a charity that protects Dauphin, Cumberland and Perry County families by facilitating access to education, health care, employment and assistance programs. Since its inception in 1990, BSSF has launched several campaigns to support the United Way and has been organizing these mini golf tournaments for over a decade.
"United Way of the Capital Region is grateful for the outstanding support of Brown Schultz Sheridan & Fritz," said Rae Lynn Cox, vice president of communications and donor engagement. "Their support helps us empower independence in local families through our access to health care, basic needs, school readiness and workforce development initiatives."
