Staffing and management resources firm Brilliant, which specializes in accounting and finance professionals, released its 2018 Salary Guides on Tuesday for the greater Chicago and south Florida markets.
Brilliant collected compensation figures via market research and other data researched by the firm over the last year. The firm expects accounting and finance salaries to grow 3.5 percent next year, with information technology positions to grow 15 percent by 2024.
“The accounting, finance and information technology professions continue to evolve at a rapid pace as new technologies emerge," said Brilliant president Jeff Mariola, per a statement. "Having validated market data on salary information helps managers make good hiring decisions and helps talent better understand their value. We anticipate 2018 to see an increase in salaries for accounting, finance and information technology professionals, across many job functions and levels.”
New accounting professionals are also expected to continue to see high compensation upon entering the workforce. Brilliant reported the 2018 salary range for new tax services professionals (up to 1 year) in Chicago to be $66,820 to $79,383 at national practices, with a salary range of $54,853 to $69,186 at local firms. In South Florida, salary for the same professionals ranged from $61, 705 to $76,383 at national practices, and $52,241 to $65,892 at local practices.
"Compensation for accounting and finance professionals remains competitive compared to other professions for the coming year and beyond," wrote Jim Wong, CEO of Brilliant, in the 2018 Salary Guide introduction. "According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, accounting and finance positions will see 11 times more gain than other professions between now and 2024. Accounting and finance professionals are largely in demand, forcing businesses to offer competitive wages and adjust their hiring processes in order to land qualified talent on their teams."
