Block Acquires New River Innovation, Discontinuing Beyond415

H&R Block recently completed an acquisition of New River Innovation, developer of tax-issue resolution software Beyond415.

Greensboro, N.C.-based New River Innovation will become a part of the H&R Block organization and will no longer offer Beyond415 commercially, according to a statement from Block.

The announcement comes on the heels of the news that Xero and H&R Block formed a strategic alliance to offer Xero as the core small business online accounting platform in Block’s Small Business Program suite of services.

Founded in 2009, New River launched the Software-as-a-Service product Beyond415 in 2011 to help tax professionals solve their clients’ post-filing tax issues.

CEO and co-founder Alan Neely and vice president of product development Jim Buttonow expressed gratitude for customer support in an online message and included the following information to help with the transition:

•    Account access will continue as normal through May 22, 2014
•    Any time remaining on a subscription term as of that date will be refunded

•    Easy data extraction will be available via one file download
•    The customer support team will be available to help with the transition

More information is also available in New River Innovation's Q&A section.
