BDO USA LLP has bought BioProcess Technology Consultants, a firm that offers chemistry, manufacturing and controls consulting to life sciences companies, effective Monday, April 1.
The deal bolsters BDO’s consulting practice in the life sciences industry, particularly for biotechnology clients. As part of the deal, BPTC president and CEO Howard Levine, will become managing director and national leader of the Bioprocess Technology Group within BDO’s Life Sciences practice. A total of 25 professionals from BPTC are joining BDO, including 14 managing directors and 5 directors. Ten of the professionals joining BDO from BPTC are PhDs, including Levine. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
BDO USA ranked 7th on Accounting Today’s 2019 list of the Top 100 Firms, with $1.47 billion in annual revenue.

BPTC was founded in 1994 and helps companies develop and commercialize biopharmaceutical products, including the manufacturing processes and strategies.
“Since our inception, we’ve worked with companies to advance and de-risk the biotherapeutic development process, address unmet medical needs and increase patient access to novel medicines,” Levine stated. “We’re excited to join BDO’s Life Sciences practice to support clients across the entire product development and company lifecycles.”
He and his colleagues from BPTC are joining BDO’s Life Sciences practice, which is headquartered in BDO’s Boston office, but they will be based in locations around the country. BPTC has been based in Woburn, Massachusetts.
