Arizona State University, Deloitte announce fifth-year master's scholarships

The W. P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University announced a collaboration with the Deloitte Foundation as part of the Big Four firm's Accounting Scholars Program.

The Deloitte Foundation Accounting Scholars Program will fund $30 million in scholarships over the next six years for minority students pursuing a fifth-year master's degree from select Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) accredited colleges and universities, including the W. P. Carey School of Business. In all, 100% of tuition (excluding books and living expenses) will be covered for the selected students.

The DFASP is part of Deloitte's Making Accounting Diverse and Equitable (MADE) program, a $75 million commitment to "attract diverse individuals into the accounting field and support them as they chart their pathway from high school to business professional to leadership in the profession," according to the Big Four firm.

To be considered for the scholarship program, applicants must:

  • Currently be enrolled in a historically Black college or university, Hispanic-serving institution, or other accredited university, or university in the United States;
  • Be pursuing an undergraduate baccalaureate degree in accounting from an accredited program;
  • Have a minimum 3.0 GPA (on 4.0 scale);
  • Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident;
  • Meet the standards for admission into a Deloitte Foundation-selected AACSB accredited college or university master’s program in accounting;
  • Have an interest in pursuing a career in public accounting and obtaining their CPA, but not presently a CPA;
  • Matriculate to the university’s master’s of accounting program for the duration of the 2022-2023 academic school year (August 2022 through May 2023) and complete the program in May 2023; and,
  • Demonstrate a knowledge and appreciation for the challenges faced by members of demographic groups underrepresented in the field of public accountancy.

"Our Deloitte Foundation is laser focused on driving education initiatives that help prepare the next generation of diverse business leaders," said Deloitte Foundation president Erin Scanlon in a statement.
