AFWA names 2019 National Award recipients

The Accounting & Financial Women’s Alliance announced its 2019 AFWA National Member of the Year and President’s Award recipient during its annual Women Who Count Awards luncheon, held October 22, 2019, in Orlando, Florida.

Sarah Militello, an associate financial analyst II at Amway in Grand Rapids, Michigan, received the AFWA National Member of the Year Award. Militello joined AFWA in 2016 and has taken leadership roles both in the Grand Rapids Chapter and the national organization. Membership within the Grand Rapids Chapter doubled during Militello's presidency, with young professionals comprising approximately 65 percent of local members.

“Sarah’s leadership is evident in both AFWA and her career," stated Laura Mangan, AFWA national president. "We are proud to empower her and encourage her and can’t wait to see what she will do next."

Lori Kelley, member of the Tax Division at Warren Averett in Destin, Florida, received the 2019 AFWA President’s Award. Kelley previously served as the AFWA national president. Immediate past national president Karyn Hartke presented the 2019 President’s Award to Kelley.
