The Association of Certified Fraud Examiners has joined the Anti-Fraud Collaboration, a collective effort of organizations including the Center for Audit Quality, Financial Executives International, the Institute of Internal Auditors and the National Association of Corporate Directors, to fight fraud across the financial reporting supply chain.
The ACFE's move to join the AFC marks a significant milestone in the groups' shared mission to foster collaboration across the financial reporting supply chain to protect investors in U.S. capital markets. The ACFE will be contributing its expertise and insights in fraud detection and prevention to the AFC, strengthening the collaboration's ability to address the evolving challenges of fraud prevention and detection.
"We are thrilled to welcome the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners to the Anti-Fraud Collaboration," said Dennis McGowan, CAQ vice president of professional practice and anti-fraud Initiatives, in a statement Monday. "Their commitment to excellence in fraud examination aligns with the AFC's goals to provide insights and recommendations on how to more effectively focus on fraud deterrence, detection and risk management. This strategic partnership will undoubtedly enhance our collective efforts to safeguard the integrity of financial markets."
The Anti-Fraud Collaboration includes professionals from different parts of the financial reporting system and provides a way for them to share best practices, do research and create resources to address the complexities of fraud deterrence and detection.
"Joining the Anti-Fraud Collaboration was an easy decision for the ACFE," said ACFE president John Gill in a statement. "By collaborating with fellow industry leaders, the ACFE can gain new perspectives to fulfill our mission to reduce the occurrence of fraud and other white-collar crimes—and help our membership do the same. This collaboration reinforces our dedication to the highest standards of ethical conduct and professional excellence, and we look forward to working alongside our new partners in the years to come."
Together, the Anti-Fraud Collaboration members and the ACFE intend to advance the shared goal of maintaining public trust and confidence in the integrity of financial information.
