ACCA report shares experiences of women finance pros worldwide

The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants released a new report, "Leading Inclusion: Simple Steps and Significant Leaps," detailing the successful journeys of women finance professionals from around the world.

Stories in the report focus on the female professionals' career milestones, as well as topics ranging from how to balance family life to gaining key promotions.

The report highlights two finance professionals in the U.K. in particular: Eriona Bajrakurtaj, now managing director of the accounting practice her father started, and entrepreneur Christina Christoforou, on her goal to build an agency for finance professionals.

"The stories shared in this report provide inspiration for any finance professional looking to succeed, as the accounts encourage those already in the profession and help them be alive to the opportunities around them," said Helen Brand, chief executive of the ACCA, in a statement. "No one is immune to struggles, but through sharing experiences, we can all learn from each other and approach circumstances more confidently. The pandemic has intensified the challenges that many people face with inequalities seemingly intensifying. So this is the time to tell our own stories, learn lessons from each other, and all play our role in building a fairer profession for all."

“[The report shows] that what may, at times, seem unachievable can, in fact, be attained," said Clive Webb, an author of the report and ACCA head of business management, in a statement. "This compilation of stories is truly a global testament to this."
