ALABAMA

Michelle Jenkins

Michelle Jenkins was promoted to partner at Anglin Reichmann Armstrong, Huntsville, where she has worked since 2012 and was recently a manager in the solutions services group.

CALIFORNIA

Ron Hauser

Gumbiner Savett, Santa Monica, promoted four staff members: Ron Hauser to tax manager; and Eduard Danielyan, Tiffany Delemo and David Sussman to tax senior associates.

Ted Callahan was named the new accountant business leader for the small business self-employed group at Intuit, Mountain View.

BPM, San Francisco, launched employee-driven performance management tool BPM Link.

CountingWorks PRO, Newport Beach, announced the release of its sixth annual list of the TaxBuzz Top 100 Tax Professionals and third annual list of the CountingWorks Top 100 Cloud Accounting Experts.

COLORADO

Wipfli announced that 21 partners and associates of Hughes & Co., Denver, have joined the firm.

FLORIDA

Joel Stettler

Joel Stettler was promoted to principal at Hancock Askew, Jacksonville.

Justin Glazman and Jeanine LaBarbera were promoted to audit shareholders in the financial institutions group at Doeren Mayhew, Tampa.

GEORGIA

Crosley+Co., Atlanta, launched a new website.

INDIANA

Benjamin Kimmerling

Benjamin Kimmerling was named president-elect at Somerset CPAs, Indianapolis, assuming the role from Patrick Early, who will transition out of the role in 2021 after serving as president for more than 30 years. Early will continue working at the firm, shifting his focus to serving firm management as an advisor. Kimmerling has been part of the firm leadership team for 22 years, leading the audit and assurance practice for the firm since 2000, and serving on the board of directors for the past 13 years.

Troy Hogan, member of the business advisory and transportation services group, and Ben Lyon, member of the business advisory group, were promoted to partner at Katz, Sapper & Miller, Indianapolis.

KANSAS

Arianna Campbell

Arianna Campbell and Jon Hubbard were named shareholders at Boomer Consulting, Overland Park, where they have worked as consultants since 2008 and 2009, respectively.

Jan Marrs was promoted to shareholder, focusing on leading the firm’s client payroll services team, while continuing her role as head of human resources, at Mize CPAs, Topeka.

KENTUCKY

Dean Dorton, Lexington, announced a reseller partnership with Cloudian, a provider of object storage systems.

LOUISIANA

Daniel Williams and Jonathan Wasielewski were promoted to shareholders at LaPorte CPAs & Business Advisors, Metairie.

MARYLAND

Kelly Garbinski and Hillary Grove were promoted to manager at SEK, Hagerstown.

MASSACHUSETTS

Jeffrey Ellis

Jeffrey Ellis was elected managing partner at QRGA, Norwood, where he previously led the tax department. He succeeds Barbara Gonsalves, who led QRGA since 2012 and will continue to serve as partner and manage the firm’s audit department, nonprofit practice group and information technology systems.

Gray, Gray & Gray, Canton, completed a rebranding focused on the “Power of More,” which includes a new logo and corporate colors with the firm’s name as a single word, “gray,” with an exponential 3 in the design. In other firm news, Martin Kirshner, leader of the firm’s energy practice group and member of the consulting and audit and assurance practices, was elected partner.

MICHIGAN

Doeren Mayhew promoted four to firm shareholders in the Troy office: Tyler Mitchell and Rochelle Vendittelli in audit; Michael Tomes in the business advisory group; and Brandon Wilson in the financial institutions group.

MISSOURI

Susan Orr

Susan Orr, managing director at UHY Advisors, St. Louis, was elected to the national UHY Advisors board of directors.

MONTANA

Rick Reisig

Rick Reisig, CEO and shareholder of Anderson ZurMuehlen & Co., was appointed to the Financial Accounting Foundation’s Board of Trustees.

NEW HAMPSHIRE

Nathan Wechsler, Concord, was named to the Forbes list of America’s Best Tax and Accounting Firms for 2021.

NEW JERSEY

Ryszard Jania

Ryszard Jania was named partner-in-charge of the New Jersey office of Marks Paneth, Parsippany, succeeding John Evans, who retired Dec. 31, 2020.

Wilkin & Guttenplan, East Brunswick, added four new principals: Amanda Brady, who has been with the firm since 1999 and specializes in real estate and professional services industries; Chris Frederick, who has been with the firm since 2012 and is the co-practice leader of the pharmaceutical and life sciences industry practice group; Darko Naumoski, who has been with the firm since 2017 and specializes in international taxation and planning strategies; David Schwartz, with the firm since 2006 and who specializes in providing audit, tax and consulting services for real estate entities, specializing in cooperative corporations and condominiums in New York.

The New Jersey Society of CPAs, Roseland, announced it conducted more than 60 presentations at high schools in New Jersey this fall, continuing to educate students about careers in accounting, but switching to virtual and prerecorded sessions because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

NEW YORK

Sue Coffey

Sue Coffey was promoted to chief executive officer of public accounting at the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants, to partner with Association and AICPA president and CEO Barry Melancon to set strategy for, strengthen and advance the global accountancy profession and the value of public accounting domestically and abroad. Neil Sonenberg and Michael Siino were named co-partners-in-charge of the real estate group at Marks Paneth, New York, succeeding Abe Schlisselfeld, who became managing partner of the firm Jan. 1.

Joseph DeMartinis, Sam Ende and Melissa Telesca were promoted to partner at Raich Ende Malter & Co., New York, where they have all worked since 2007.

Friedman, New York, promoted eight to partner: Tom Cantwell, audit, and Ryan Spencer, tax, in the East Hanover, New Jersey, office; Chad Keerports, FLVS, in Marlton, New Jersey; Scott Croff, tax, in Philadelphia; Scott Musmeci, audit, in Long Island, New York; and Shahla Sedgh, tax, Shirllen Tong, China consulting, and Huina Zheng, audit, in New York City.

Ian Alberts, audit professional and co-leader of the manufacturing, distribution and retail practice, and Mitchell Marcus, audit professional and member of the real estate practice group, were admitted as partners at Berdon, New York.

Christopher Gagliardi and Jason Hoffman were promoted to partner, and Christopher Zingalli, Gianluca Carrabs and Richard Bader were promoted to principal, at Janover, New York.

Deloitte Tax announced an agreement with Tax Analysts to make the nonprofit’s federal tax law library available to the general public. (Read the full story.)

Ryan Brown, Brian Marchuck, Brian Rosenberg and Jeffrey Walker were promoted to principal; Matthew Funk was hired as an audit supervisor; and S. Crissy Dopkowski as an HR generalist at Brown Schultz Sheridan & Fritz, Camp Hill.

Teena Curnow was promoted to manager at SEK, York.

Joseph Repko was hired as an audit manager at Louis Plung & Co., Pittsburgh.

TENNESSEE

Philip Brassell was hired as a senior tax accountant and Jared Kirk as an audit manager at Reynolds, Bone & Griesbeck, Memphis, both returning to the firm after leaving in 2019.

TEXAS

Nicole Riley

Nicole Riley was promoted to audit director and Chris Dodd and Emily Smikal were promoted to tac director at Pannell Kerr Forster of Texas, Houston.

Whitley Penn, Fort Worth, promoted six to partner: Aaron Ballard, forensic, litigation and valuation services partner; tax partner Sarah Huckaby; Shane Miller, partner with WPWealth; audit partners Steven Moore, Adam Rhodes and Jonathan Rittenhouse. In other firm news, tax senior manager Robert Pike was selected to join the National Utility Contractors Association Texas board of directors for a one-year term from 2021-22.

Briggs & Veselka, Houston, announced several promotions: Lincoln McKinnon and Calvin Upton to partners, and Mohamad Al-Kawafha, Amanda Bobeck, Christa Jaganath and Keith Lindsey to principals, in the audit department; and Keith-Ann Steed to principal and Roxanne Horton to director, in the tax department.

William Schmitt was hired as a principal at UHY, Houston.

Craig Epstein was hired as a director of international tax at Weaver, Houston.

HK Financial Services, Dallas, has rebranded to Avantax Planning Partners, to operate alongside Avantax Wealth Management.
