Jean Bouquot, previously deputy president, was elected president of the International Federation of Accountants to serve a two-year term through November 2026, and Taryn Rulton was elected deputy president. The IFAC also appointed to the board: Josephine Su Han Phan, Michael Niehues, Patricia Stock, Mark Vaessen, Lei Yan and Ahmad Almeghames. (Read the full story.) In other news, IFAC selected Sheila Fraser of Canada and Andreas Bergmann of Switzerland as the 2024 recipients of the IFAC Global Leadership Award, recognizing their outstanding contributions to public sector accounting.

Comedian Lil Wenker announced she is touring her solo show, "Bangtail," a clown western about a cowboy-turned-accountant searching for his purpose, based on her accountant  father, which includes a performance Nov. 22 in New York.

The National Association of State Boards of Accountancy, Nashville, announced members of its board of directors for 2024-25: Marla Caldwell as chair; Nicola Neilon as vice chair; Thuy Barron as Great Lakes regional director and chair of NASBA's Inclusion Committee; Nancy Glynn as executive directors' liaison and chair of the NASBA Executive Directors Committee for 2024-25;  Haley Lyons as Pacific regional director and chair of NASBA's Communications Committee and member of the Relations with Member Boards Committee; Melissa Ruff as Central regional director; Wilhelmus Schaffers as Southeast regional director; and Gerald Weinstein as director-at-large. Additionally, NASBA presented awards to: Telford Lodden, receiving the 2024 William H. Van Rensselaer Public Service Award; Jimmy E. Burkes, receiving the 2024 NASBA Distinguished Service Award; and Doreen Johnson, receiving the 2024 Lorraine P. Sachs Standard of Excellence Award.
