ALABAMA

Emma Gunter

Emma Gunter, senior tax associate at Jackson Thornton, Montgomery, was recognized as the 2025 Young Alumna by Auburn University Montgomery.

CONNECTICUT

The Financial Accounting Standards Board announced the selection of Matt Peterson, fourth-year doctoral student at the University of Kansas, as the recipient of its 2025 Emerging Scholar Award, recognizing a proposed doctoral thesis topic with the potential to make a rigorous contribution to an issue of interest to accounting standard setting. His dissertation examines the statement of cash flows and how the presentation and display of certain cash flow information could make the cash flow statement more useful for investment decisions.

Navneet Sharma, U.S. assurance partner at KNAV, Atlanta, was appointed to the American Institute of CPAs' Accounting and Review Services Committee.

IOWA

Carrie Steffen

Carrie Steffen, most recently co-founder and president of The Whetstone Group, was named as the next CEO of the Iowa Society of CPAs, West Des Moines.

Alotham Group International joined the Kreston Global network.

MASSACHUSETTS

Timothy Beary was hired as partner and leader of the state and local tax and tax controversy practices at Grassi, Needham.

NEW JERSEY

Nisivoccia, Mt. Arlington, was named the 2025 Workplace of the Year by the Sussex County Chamber of Commerce.

The New Jersey Society of CPAs, Roseland, awarded $190,000 in scholarships to 40 New Jersey-based high school and college students April 24 at the Pines Manor in Edison. The NJCPA Scholarship Fund distributed 13 awards to high school students and 27 awards to college students.

NEW YORK

Martin Fiore

Martin Fiore, previously EY Americas deputy vice chair – tax, was appointed EY Americas vice chair – tax, effective July 1, 2025, succeeding Kevin Flynn, who has led the business since 2022 and is retiring at the end of the fiscal year.

PENNSYLVANIA

Brian Palmer

Brian Palmer was hired as a tax manager in the Lancaster office at Brown Plus.

TEXAS

Roshmi Dalal

Weaver, Houston, launched its new Executive and Leadership Coaching Services led by consulting director Roshmi Dalal, and built on the success of Weaver's internal coach training program, WeaverLEAD. Dalal will work closely with chief talent officer Linc Ashby to offer a range of coaching services to clients including executive and leadership coaching, team coaching, succession planning, well-being coaching and emotional intelligence coaching services.

WISCONSIN

Gina Skibo was appointed the new manufacturing, retail and distribution industry leader at Wipfli, Milwaukee.
