The Board of Trustees of the Financial Accounting Foundation announced that Hillary Salo, whose five-year term on the Financial Accounting Standards Board begins July 1, 2024, will serve as the board's vice chair, succeeding current FASB vice chair James Kroeker, whose final term on the FASB concludes June 30, 2024. The New Jersey Society of CPAs held its inaugural Accelerating Scholars in Accounting event May 16 at its office in Roseland, hosting more than 50 accounting students from universities, colleges and county colleges. The event included interactive discussions about the accounting profession and becoming a CPA and was sponsored by CLA, CohnReznick, Deloitte Foundation, Mazars, WilkinGuttenplan, Wiss and Withum.

NORTH CAROLINA

Abby Lampe, financial services consultant at PwC, Raleigh, competed in and won the 2024 Cooper's Hill Cheese Rolling Competition in Gloucestershire, England, defending a title she also won in 2022.

EY announced the appointment of a new EY global independent nonexecutive, Duane DesParte, who will join the EY Global Governance Council. He was formerly a member and acting chairperson of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board.
