On the move: KSM names new leaders

Indiana-based Top 100 Firm Katz, Sapper & Miller created five new leadership roles; the Kansas Society of CPAs gave out a number of scholarships; the Financial Accounting Standards Board named three new members of its Small Business Advisory Committee; the Accounting MOVE Project announced a mini summit; and other firm and personnel news from across the profession.

    CHILE

    Jullian Consultores, Santiago, has joined international accounting firm network MGI Worldwide. The firm has two partners and offers tax, auditing, accounting and labor services. It focuses primarily on investment companies and high-net-worth clients.

    CONNECTICUT

    The Financial Accounting Standards Board has appointed three new members to its Small Business Advisory Committee:
    • Mark Hamel, principal at Assay Research;
    • Urooj Khan, associate professor at the University of Texas at Austin—McCombs School of Business; and,
    • Bob Ruckh, a managing director at Alvarez & Marsal.

    GEORGIA

    The Accounting MOVE Project announced its MOVE Mini Summit, a free virtual event that will be held May 6-10 via CPA Academy and feature sessions on empowering women of color in accounting, the future of work, and lessons from DEI leaders.     • Current COO Jamie Ellis has been named partner-in-charge of operations.

    The Kansas Society of CPAs announced the most recent recipients of the KSCPA Education Foundation Scholarships:
    • The Byron Bird Scholarship: Blake Bruno, University of Kansas;
    • The John J. Killian Scholarship: Antonio Watson, McPherson College;
    • The Mary Ellen Kirkpatrick Scholarship: Ryan Kramer, Washburn University; and,
    • The KSCPA Ethnically Diverse Student Scholarship: Aurora Ortega, Kansas State University.

    De Beer has joined accounting network Kreston Global. Founded in 1952, the Dutch firm has nine partners and 106 staff in two offices. It offers audit, international and domestic tax, and accounting services to a wide range of business and individual clients.

    LMC, New York City, has been named one of the 2024 Best Companies to Work for in New York, by the New York State Council of the Society for Human Resource Management, together with Best Companies Group, BridgeTower Media and Rochester Business Journal.

    Shane Gastecki, a senior manager at Schneider Downs & Co., Pittsburgh, has been approved to join the AICPA's Auditing & Attestation Subcommittee, which oversees the Audit and Attestation CORE section of the current Uniform CPA examination. They are responsible for reviewing and approving questions, deciding on section strategy based on professional trends and monitoring question inventory.
