Yeo & Yeo expands in SE Michigan

Michigan-based Regional Leader Yeo & Yeo CPAs & Advisors has merged in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan-based Berger, Ghersi & LaDuke PLC, effective July 1.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

BGL partners Alan LaDuke, David Berger and James McAuliffe will join Yeo & Yeo's principal group, and nine staff members from BGL will also join Yeo & Yeo, which already has nine offices and 225 employees.

The firm plans to establish a larger office in Southeast Michigan to combine the BGL team with Yeo & Yeo's current Auburn Hills office.

BGL has provided accounting, audit, tax and consulting services to individuals and businesses for over 40 years; it has extensive expertise in services for the real estate industry, high-end tax planning and preparation, and retirement plan audits. It also specializes in peer reviews, a service that will be new to Yeo & Yeo.

"We are excited to welcome BGL's professionals to the Yeo & Yeo team," said president and CEO David Youngstrom, in a statement. "Together, our firms have a combined 140 years of dedicated service, and we share a deep commitment to building strong relationships and providing close personal attention to our clients."

Firms combine in New Jersey

Woolston Consulting Group LLC, Red Bank, is merging with the accounting practice of William C. McNamara to create Woolston, Jensen & McNamara.

The combined firm will offer a range of services, from tax management and accounting services for individuals to estate and trust planning and compliance, as well as strategic business planning, exit strategies for small businesses, and investment wealth management.

"The synergies between our two firms make this the perfect partnership going forward," said Charles Woolston, the founder of WCG, in a statement. "Our clients will benefit through the combined value and enhanced performance of our two firms, which will be far greater than the sum of their individual resources and accomplishments."

"In addition, as we advise our business clients to plan for succession, it's important that we also take the steps to insure our firm's longevity," Woolston continued. "My partners and I will continue to service existing and new clients in all areas of tax and accounting consultancy while adding a significant amount of experience to our business tax and accounting departments."

McNamara and his team bring experience in family business accounting and consulting, as well as a concentration in the architecture, engineering and contracting industries.

Aimee Jensen, the third name partner of the new firm, is a partner at WCG, which she joined in 2006. She has over 35 years of accounting experience and specializes in a broad spectrum of tax assistance and compliance including expert tax preparation, proactive tax analysis and year-round tax planning.
