GEORGIA: Hancock Askew adds Mason Advisory Group

Details: Hancock Askew & Co. LLP, a Regional Leader based in Savannah, Georgia, has merged in Mason Advisory Group, based in Atlanta.

As part of the deal, Michael Maiorano will join Hancock Askew as a tax partner and Deborah Meador will join as a client accounting and advisory services principal. His team will relocate to Hancock Askew’s offices.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Hancock Askew ranked No. 21 on Accounting Today’s 2021 Regional Leaders list of the Top Firms in the Southeast, with $20.5 million in annual revenue.

Mason Advisory Group specializes in tax and accounting services for individuals and businesses in industries including real estate, health care, professional services, hospitality, and manufacturing.

“Merging with Mason Advisory Group and adding Michael Maiorano to our partner group adds great strength to our tax leadership team in Atlanta,” said Hancock Askew managing partner Michael McCarthy in a statement Tuesday. “We are looking forward to working with him and the rest of the team.”

Hancock Askew’s origins date back to 1910. The firm provides tax, audit, accounting, internal audit, IT risk assurance and advisory, SOC examinations, transaction advisory, business valuations and other critical business consulting services. It has offices in Savannah, Atlanta, and Augusta, Georgia along with Miami, Tampa and Jacksonville, Florida. The staff numbers over 200 professionals.

TEXAS: Reimer, McGuinness & Associates and Hess Hopkins Alexander merge

Details: Reimer, McGuinness & Associates and Hess Hopkins Alexander, two firms based in Houston, have merged to form Reimer McGuinness Hess, P.C., effective Jan. 1, 2022.

RMA co-founder Randy Reimer will be the managing partner of the combined firm. Both firms focus on servicing small to midsized businesses, providing accounting, tax, and business consulting services.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. RMA has three partners, and HHA has two. The merger brings the total number of CPAs to 15 and the total staff to 41. Reimer, McGuinness & Associates ranked #46 on the Houston Business Journal‘s 2021 Best Places to Work list.

“Our firms have known each other for a long time,” Reimer said in a statement Thursday. “We respect each other and share common values — unquestionable integrity and place high value on relationships, not transactions. Together, we’ll be better able to serve our growing roster of clients.”

Both firms plan to maintain their current offices for the rest of the year.
