Nearly 1,200 volunteers took part in the Illinois CPA Society’s 10th annual CPA Day of Service last week, with accounting and corporate finance professionals across the state volunteering on Friday, September 20, to give back to their local communities.
Projects included packaging food and clothing for families in need, collecting books for children and cleaning neighborhoods. Organizations visited this year included Feed My Starving Children centers in Aurora and Schaumburg; Twice as Nice Mother & Child Diaper Bank in Gurnee; Little City in Palatine; and Bernie’s Book Bank in Lake Bluff.
“We’re so proud of everyone who balanced work schedules in order to spend time in their communities, making lasting impressions on those who are truly grateful,” stated Todd Shapiro, president and CEO of the Illinois CPA Society. “Our annual CPA Day of Service is a great opportunity for volunteers to connect with local communities and organizations to make a positive, long-lasting impact.”
