The American Accounting Association, Lakewood Ranch, elected four new members to the Accounting Hall of Fame: William Campfield, who has worked in various capacities, including executive management with the U.S. Government Accountability Office; Major J. Lee Nicholson, an industrial consultant, author and educator at New York University and Columbia University; Zoe-Vonna Palmrose, professor emeritus of accounting at the University of Washington; and Stephen Penman, George O. May Professor and chair of the accounting division in the graduate school of business at Columbia University. The members will be formally inducted at the August 2019 annual meeting of the AAA in San Francisco.

Baker Newman Noyes, Portland, announced three promotions: Gilda Bryand to administrative manager in the tax practice, Jason Emery to managing director in the audit practice, and Brian Sawlivich to IT manager in the operations department.

WASHINGTON, D.C.

Barbara Angus was appointed global tax policy leader at EY, where she will focus on engagement with key policymakers and clients globally. Angus was previously chief tax counsel for the Committee on Ways and Means of the U.S. House of Representatives, where she played an integral role in the development of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017. EY also announced that Douglas Bell was hired as global trade policy leader, working across the organization to support clients and advise the firm's leadership on trade issues. Bell also joins EY after a career in the federal government, most recently at the U.S. Department of the Treasury, where he served as deputy assistant secretary for trade and investment policy.
