BlumShapiro, West Hartford, provided leadership development workshops and exercises during its two-day “Dare to Lead” summer program for 35 college students in Connecticut entering their junior year. Alex Eng, vice president of U.S. corporate finance at EDF Renewable Energy, was named chair of the Institute of Management Accountants’ global board of directors, Montvale, for fiscal year 2017-18.

Mazars USA was awarded a marketing achievement award in the print advertising campaign category by the Association for Accounting Marketing, marking the second consecutive year that the firm has won a Marketing Achievement Award from AAM, following their social media campaign award in 2016. The firm was awarded for its “Who is Mazars” campaign that included four ads in print, digital, online, radio, elevator and lobby displays. Additionally, the firm recently completed its third annual Days of Service, a volunteer initiative that more than 550 employees, including 70 partners, participated in by visiting more than 30 community and nonprofit programs in New York City, Long Island, New Jersey, Maryland, Philadelphia, Sacramento and Chicago.

Dixon Hughes Goodman, Tysons, held its annual Count the Cans food drive in June, where employees and partners donated money, canned goods and volunteer hours to hunger relief organizations in 13 states, contributing a total of 773,741 pounds of food and more than 880 service hours during the 10-day campaign.
