A record 1,474 volunteers participated in the Illinois CPA Society’s 9th annual CPA Day of Service on Friday, Sept. 28, showing up at events around the state to help with community gardening, packaging food for families in need, collecting books and learning materials for children and a host of other activities.
“Accounting and financial professionals are known for their expertise and the good work they do every day to help individuals, families and businesses achieve success” society president and CEO Todd Shapiro said in a statement. “Our annual CPA Day of Service keeps getting bigger, with volunteers expanding their supportive nature even more by giving back in a variety of hands-on ways to the communities where they live and work.”
Among the organizations visited by CPA Day of Service volunteers this year were: Alexian Brothers Women and Children’s Hospital, Habitat for Humanity ReStore, Twice as Nice Mother & Child Diaper Bank, Feed My Starving Children, Little City, and Bernie’s Book Bank.
