The Massachusetts Society of CPAs has named Jennifer Niece, an associate professor of accounting at Assumption College, its 2019 Outstanding Educator of the Year. Niece was honored on May 22 at the MSCPA’s annual Believers and Achievers Recognition Reception at the Granite Links Golf Club in Quincy, Massachusetts.
The MSCPA's annual award recognizes full-time accounting educators who have demonstrated excellence in teaching, motivating students and innovative teaching methods.
Niece was recognized for her contributions to motivating her students, in addition to contributions to the accounting profession, participation in the MSCPA and for her efforts to serve as a liaison between her classroom and the business world.
“The MSCPA is thrilled to celebrate the achievements of this remarkable woman for her outstanding contributions to her students, her community and the accounting profession,” stated Amy Pitter, president and CEO of the MSCPA.
Niece joined Assumption College in 2001 and has served as chair of the Business Studies department and as a coordinator of the CPA Track MBA programs. She teaches at the undergraduate and graduate levels and was the first member of her department to design a Community Service Learning course, designed to include the IRS’ Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program.
