The Michigan Association of CPAs has named the recipients of the its 2018 awards, highlighting local professionals who have made an impact through their service and leadership. This year’s honorees will be recognized at a dinner ceremony on Oct. 3, 2018 at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi.
“We’re so fortunate to work alongside this group of dedicated professionals who share their time, passion and expertise,” stated MICPA president and CEO Peggy Dzierzawski. “These individuals have shown outstanding commitment and leadership, both to the profession and our communities, and are a driving force behind engaging the next generation of CPAs.”
Over 60 CPAs will be highlighted this year, including:
- Gov. Richard Snyder: Michigan's first CPA governor, Snyder will receive the Distinguished Achievement Award for his work on such programs as the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report initiative and the Detroit Financial Advisory Board.
- Lucinda Enderby: The president of Great Lakes Accounting, Enderby will receive the PC – Public Service Award for providing affordable audit services to local nonprofits.
- Earl Poleski: The executive director of the Michigan State Housing Development Authority, Poleski will receive the Outstanding CPA in Government Impact Award for supporting the mission of the MSHDA through "wise investments."
- Representative Brandt Iden: Representing Michigan’s 61st District, Kalamazoo County, Iden will receive the Legislative Impact Award for his work as chair of the Regulatory Reform Committee.
- Roger Short: The recipient of the Diversity and Inclusion Award, Short works for the Detroit Building Authority and is an accounting instructor at Wayne State University, where he mentors and provides scholarships to minority students via the Austin Scholars Program.
