Avalara, a tax automation provider, has set a date for its annual Crush user conference. Crush 2019 will take place May 8 to 10 in Huntington Beach, Calif. and will focus on tax compliance for the future.
2018 was a milestone year for Avalara in more ways than one — the company both completed a successful IPO and opened its new headquarters in Seattle, Wash. The June Supreme Court decision in favor of the state in South Dakota v. Wayfair, which allowed states to tax remote sales, was another boon to the company, setting the stage for more complex tax requirements that Avalara’s software can address.
Crush is a user conference designed to bring together tax experts and practitioners, offering learning, education and networking opportunities. Crush 2019's opening keynote speaker will be business strategist Geoffrey Moore, author of “Crossing the Chasm: Marketing and Selling High-Tech Products to Mainstream Customers.” The book describes the economic and social forces that typically drive the development and emergence of innovative technology companies. Moore is a recognized expert who helps organizations and industries navigate growth and change.
Other planned highlights of the conference include a learning lab, which will give hands-on, one-on-one training with Avalara product experts, available for all attendees. Appointment requests will be available prior to the event. CPE credit will be offered for more than 85 hours of interactive sessions. There will also be a sponsor showcase for attendees to browse and discuss solutions offered by sponsoring partners.
“What is so exciting about Crush next year is that we are seeing the predictions we made two years ago about the sweeping systemic changes in global tax compliance come to fruition before our eyes right now,” stated Scott McFarlane, co-founder and CEO of Avalara. “We host the world’s top experts in tax at this event. We are all facing these waves of change together – we learn so much from our attendees and panelists each year; this will be our most important Crush ever.”
