The Accounting & Financial Women’s Alliance has named Karyn Hartke, of Jacksonville, Florida., as its 2018-19 national president.
A member of AFWA's Northeast Florida chapter, Hartke has been a member of the organization since 2008, serving on numerous committees both at the local and national levels.
“AFWA is such a unique organization empowering women both professionally and personally. I feel honored to have the opportunity to be a part of its leadership,” said Hartke, in a statement. “Focusing on our history, I have chosen the leaf as a symbol for this year. It symbolizes hope, renewal, revival and growth. It is important to ‘turn over a new leaf’ so we can grow and thrive in our current environment and remain relevant.”
2018 marks AFWA's 80th anniversary, pushing women in the profession to "connect, advance, [and] lead."
“There are a lot of exciting things happening at AFWA and with Karyn’s leadership, the organization is positioned to expand and grow exponentially," stated Cindy Stanley, executive director of AFWA. "We have a strong volunteer base that is dedicated to improving and growing the organization."
