Congress too had its share of tax delinquents, with 217 employees at the Senate owing a total of $2,134,501, while 467 employees at the House owed $8,535,974.
The U.S. Postal Service was the agency with the most employees with delinquent taxes. There 25,640 employees owed close to $270 million, according to Washington, D.C., radio station
At the Environmental Protection Agency, 413 people owed $19,473,477, while at the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp., 185 employees owed $3,155,313.
At the Treasury Department, home of the IRS, 1,181 employees had delinquent taxes amounting to $9,303,278. At the Justice Department, 2,069 employees owed $17,662,076 in back taxes. Five employees at the U.S. Tax Court owed $62,508.
