FICPA Names New CEO

Deborah Curry has been selected as the new chief executive officer-executive director of the Florida Institute of CPAs. She is due to start on October 1.

A licensed CPA, Curry most recently served as chief operating officer of the Georgia Society of CPAs. Prior to that, she held finance positions at Turner Broadcasting, Time Warner and Pacific USA Holdings Corp. She graduated from Texas A&M University.

"The FICPA is proud to welcome Deborah," said chief operating officer Glenn Thomas, who has been serving as interim CEO-executive director. "Her extensive experience in accounting and CPA societies will lead us successfully into the future."

"Her unique experience as a CPA, both public and private, affords her the necessary insight into our profession to lead and inspire the CPAs in this great state," added 2011-2012 FICPA president Stam Stathis.

Curry will be the 19,000-member institute's fourth CEO-executive director in its 106-year history.
