The importance of “turning it off”

IMGCAP(1)]

As an accountant and business owner, it can seem like the work never ends. Following up with clients, staying on top of technological changes, tracking your niche industry trends, maintaining relationships on social media...it can be hard to find time to take a break.

But consciously taking breaks and turning off your electronics is vital to your success in business and happiness in life. Your body and mind need to relax and refresh so that you can give the very best to your work.

This includes turning off your computer and phone. As well as taking a break from your household duties. Often times as entrepreneurs, our “down-time” is filled with chores, errands and knocking items off our household to-do list.

My favorite day to unwind is Sunday. While I find it difficult to take a whole day off to just sit and be, I make sure I find at least 20 minutes to hang out and do absolutely nothing.

You may be thinking that Sunday is a great day to get all of your last minute chores completed, but it's important to find time to just chill so you can be energized for the week ahead. Whether it's 20 minutes reading a book, or going to the park with the kids or watching the football game. Or just sitting doing absolutely nothing.

Give your mind and body a break from "doing" and try to just be for 20 minutes.

Now it’s your turn. Calendar a day and time that you will relax for 20 minutes. Let us know in the comments which day it will be so we can all hold each other accountable.

Love and light,
