Terry Ramm, 63, of Lincoln, UK, recently joined 2000 other students - many of them younger - at accounting-centered online college
[IMGCAP(1)] Ramm has gone on to set up his own accounting business - TLR Bookkeeping and Taxation - after less than a year of studies and already has a portfolio of clients.
"I wasn't ready to retire and I didn't fancy stacking shelves at the supermarket, so setting up my own business was the way forward for me," Ramm said, per a statement. "I gained an Institute of Certified Bookkeepers (ICB) qualification and that opened all the right doors."
Ramm previously spent the past 17 years in Canada before retiring to Britain. He started with Ideal Schools in October 2015, passed ICB levels 2, 3, and 4, with distinction, and completed the Self-Assessment module.
"Business is all about confidence and the course I signed up for gave me all the tools I needed to open my new practice ahead of schedule," Ramm added. "I hope to provide companies, organizations and individuals in Lincoln with an outstanding service."
"Terry was a committed and enthusiastic student, who clearly had a wealth of business experience," stated Brian McVean, director of Ideal Schools. "It goes to show that age is no barrier for people if they have the determination and self-belief to start out on a new stage in their professional lives."
