Deloitte kicks off "Team USA Road Show" of Olympic athletes

For the fourth consecutive year, Deloitte is hitting the road with the United States Olympic Committee to bring world-renowned athletes to 10 college campuses across the country.

Kicking off for six weeks on Sept. 3, the “Team USA Road Show: It’s Your Race, Take the Lead” will feature Olympic and Paralympic athletes who are preparing for the Sochi 2014 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. Olympians like gold-medalist figure skater Evan Lysacek, bobsled medalist Elana Meyers, gold-medalist speed skater Shani Davis, and Paralympic gold-medalist alpine skier and wheelchair basketball player Alana Nichols will share their perspectives on leadership and goal achievement.

"The 'Team USA Road Show' demonstrates Deloitte's focus on strengths-based leadership and the high performance culture many students today seek," said Patty Pogemiller, director of Deloitte Services and talent acquisition leader, in a statement. "Olympians and Paralympians are exceptional talents who stretch themselves, thrive as leaders and turn passion into reality. These qualities make them strong ambassadors of our culture and ideal motivators for students to ignite their own careers."

The road show is one of Deloitte’s various talent initiatives that identify and target the approximately 17,000 (including 7,000 on-campus) hires Deloitte plans to make this fiscal year. The Big Four’s National Leadership Conference offers career development workshops for students and their annual alternative spring break program “Maximum Impact” incorporates skill-based learning into community outreach.

"U.S. Olympians, Paralympians and hopefuls personify drive, passion and leadership – many of the same traits that define career success," stated USOC chief marketing officer Lisa Baird. "We are thrilled that Deloitte showcases these great athletes, and through the 'Team USA Road Show,' engages students as they plan the next step in their educational and professional careers."

Deloitte’s U.S. Olympic and Paralympic sponsorship provides the USOC with professional services, resources and support for Team USA in Sochi. A USOC supporter since 2009, the firm extended its sponsorship last year to serve as the Official Professional Services Sponsor of the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Teams through 2020.
